Good Cause, a non-profit organization based in Havre de Grace, Maryland, identifies worthwhile causes based on needs in our local community and then rallies people and resources around them. Their vision is to raise the level of community service through a generosity movement that increases need awareness, community participation and long-term partnerships in Maryland’s Harford & Cecil counties. Some of their past community impact events include feeding over 100 families during the first week of school, partnering with other community organizations to put warm coats on children, and hosting a free family-friendly festival in the Fall.
In addition, they serve the mothers of their community by offering moms’ groups, informational seminars, a biannual giveaway of children’s clothes, toys, and equipment,
and a free spa day for single and military moms.
Their community center is also host to a coffee house each third Saturday of the month. Free admission, live music, and a family-friendly atmosphere provides a venue for people to relax, connect with their communities, and partner with them to serve a good cause, all while
enjoying a quality cup of coffee. This December, Good Cause will be working with the community to make sure 200 children do not go without gifts this Christmas season
through their Presents with a Purpose initiative.
Good Cause operates through the generous donations of time and money from people right here in the community. If you are interested in serving for a good cause, there are many ways to become involved. Whether it is volunteering at a community impact event, sponsoring a child or family in our Presents with a Purpose initiative, joining our Moments for Moms group, supporting our good causes with a monthly donation, donating your gently used baby and kid items, or serving on one of our committees, Good Cause has an opportunity for you to make a difference in our community, and in turn, make a difference in yourself.
